Tonight at dinner little Goose looked over at me and in all seriousness said "You make me happy." I teared up right there and then. A mouth full of rice and the sweetest two year old looking at me with those big brown eyes.
That is why I am a Mom. To provide these sweet adorable souls with a happy and fulfilling life. One where they have the comfort and peace that the gospel brings, unconditional love, saftey from all the scary things out there, and each other. It's easy to forget how much fun and happiness that comes into our home because of the relationships they have with one another, and I love to be a part of it all. I love to kiss skinned knees, praise pictures of stick figures, listen to original knock knock jokes, and watch dance parties and colorful tricks. I am the only one who can call "the guys" to come open up the cage that houses my pet panthers (or leopards, or kitties, or whatever cat they are being that day.) Doing a puzzle with me is so much better than doing a puzzle by yourself. I love to be that person. I love to be their Mom.
I love my kids more than I think it's possible to express. I find joy in serving them, loving them, watching them, teaching them. No, it is not all rainbows and sprinkles, there are hard times. Almost everyday there is a very hard time, but being a Mom is all so much more than cleaning up blow out diapers and putting kids in time out. It's indescribable I'm afraid and as I looked back over the table at Goose I said..."You make me happy too."
